To the New Year

It's been awhile. I had a tough end to the semester, grading and such. I really enjoyed my classes this semester, and the students did too. It just reaffirmed how much I like teaching. I'm teaching a lighter load in the Spring, and I am so relieved about that decision being made. But, I need to concentrate on me, and I was unable to do that with the load I was teaching. Every now and then, a person has to look out for themselves.

That is why I am taking a week over New Year's and going to the beach. Hello, road trip. I am driving to Orange Beach, AL. I have a great condo lined up with heated pools! I am spoiling myself silly and enjoying it. My cats will be mad, but they will get over it. I need the sound of the waves.....

Christmas was a great holiday. My mom over did as usual, and cooked way too much. My sister was an ass, as was her daughter. It's as someone said, 'you can love your family without liking them.' Luckily, I didn't even have to see either of them. But they hurt my mom. grrrrrr.....

My older brother has a torn rotator cuff and will have to have surgery. This has my mom all worried. She stresses so easily these days. I guess it comes with age. I have been on a cleaning binge. I want to come home to a clean house, and my house tends to really get cluttered during those final grading days of the semester. Between that and Christmas, I had a lot of clutter to go through.
Saturday, I head down south. And it's supposed to rain. At least is isn't supposed to snow. Although, this part of the state might get snow, but not until after I have left. I am so looking forward to the beach. And honestly, I'm looking forward to the new year. I really have a positive outlook about 2007. I know that it is going to bring some changes, but I also know that they will be positive ones.

And I hope that for you as well. I wish you all the best for 2007. May all your goals be met with great success. And on that note, here are my top three resolutions for the New Year. Feel free to add yours....
1. To find a time for meditation each day
2. To gain a bit of knowledge each day
3. To grow spiritually throughout the new year
